Lynnette and Pete's visit in Minneapolis
They arrived by car, very early and very quietly on Saturday morning (1:15am on 9/4/10). After a late breakfast of Bruegger's bagels we headed for Saint Paul and the Science Museum where L&P visited the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit and Jan-Z and I took in the I-Max Theatre & saw "Arabia".
Next we visited Lakewood Cemetery to see Peter VIII's plot.
Home for a late lunch of BLT's! Then L&P went to Edina for a "memory walk" around the old Casco neighborhood.
We were treated to a great dinner at the Twin City Grill @ Mall of America.
Sunday morning we split: L&P went to Grace and we went to Saint Olaf and then rendezvoused @ #308 for brunch.
And then to Target Field where we were treated to a double-header: a "legend" game starring Twins oldtimers, most of whom Pete remembered from his childhood, and the real thing of the Twins versus the Texas Rangers. The Twins were able to hold on and win by 6 to 5 with the final Ranger out according to Rule 7.09 (h). It's a weird rule that calls the runner out if he is in contact with the base coach.
We dined at home thanks to Chef Pete.
Labor Day we had brunch at Hell's Kitchen after which L,P & J walked to the river.
Departure was @ 2:00pm and was recognized by the customary "wave".
It was a great weekend.

Lynnette and Pete are here for the weekend
They drove from Wheaton yesterday and arrived sometime very early this morning. They are still abed but I have made the Bruegger's run and salt bagels are awaiting them with the usual onion and chives cream cheese.

Erin and Robert visit on way to Eau Claire, WI
Yesterday we were blessed with a brief visit from Erin and Robert on their way to a family gathering in WI. Lunch @ #308 and catch-up time. A movie @ Block E....."Inception"... we took advantage of E&R's presence for movie interpretation. Dinner @ Brit's on the roof level, looking down on the bowls pitch. Back to #308 until departure time of 8:45pm.
Yesterday, 7-24-10, was the seventieth anniversary of Ann's and my entry into these United States through Saint Albans, VT, on our way to New Haven. Mary recognized it with a card and Ann with an e-mail.
