Retreat with Rolheiser

A great weekend retreat @ King's House in Buffalo with Fr. Ron Rolheiser,OMI, with whom we have spent previous Advents. If you would like to know him better, I suggest his book, entitled "Holy Longing". The retreat was cut short by concern about travel, rain and ice.

"Quantam of Solace"

Walked to BlockE yesterday afternoon to see this. We should have read the plot summary beforehand. Still don't understand it but enjoyed the "activity" on land, sea and in the air. I love Judi Dench.

"Happy-go-lucky"

Went with Dorns to see this @ Edina Landmark. You may skip it. It could have used sub-titles. Dinner followed @ Minikahda. By the time we had gotten home the movie was a thing of the past.

Finally, Election Day

Long line outside our polling place. May they have the patience to wait to vote. I wonder if our absentees ballots have been counted already.

Parents weekend @ Yale w/Annie

We're still basking in the glow and memories of our long weekend with Annie in New Haven. She was a great tour guide and provider of entertainment. We especially enjoyed meeting her many friends and getting a peek into her collegiate life.

Vikes over Lions

We went to the Dome yesterday hoping for a satisfactory victory....it wasn't. They couldn't seem to do anything right until the last 14 seconds when the field goal gave them a win. Now they are tied for first place in the division with Chicago and Green Bay. They didn't look like a first place team.

Visiting Izaty's

Yesterday we spent the day @ Izaty's to relish the fall color.....awesome! The tree by Bay View, the trees surrounding the second green of Sanctuary, the tree by the marina and the trees around the fifteenth tee on Black Brook..........all awesome. God is great!

We walked most of Black Brook. The resort and both courses were "closed for the season".

We ended our day @ Happy's for a late lunch.

Beyond the Political Din

We drove up to Saint John's University in Collegeville yesterday for a seminar at the School of Theology put on by Bernie Evans, whose expertise is Catholic Social Teaching. It was excellent and helped put in perspective the teachings as they pertain to voting and elections.

He will be in Minneapolis @ The Basilica on Tuesday, October 21, from 5:30 to 9:00pm to present the same seminar.

We took the opportunity to visit the Bush Library to see the pages from the Wisdom Books, which are part of the output from the fifth stage [of seven] of the Saint John's Bible project. The word "awesome" comes to mind!
